4. How do we store your data and what is its retention period?

Our company securely stores your data on Wix, which uses a MySQL database to store all user information. The main tables involved are:

• wp_users:

This table contains basic user information, such as their ID, username (user_login), password (user_pass, which is hashed), email address (user_email), registration date (user_registered), etc.

• wp_usermeta:

This table stores additional user information in the form of key-value pairs (meta_key and meta_value). It is used for data such as user preferences, custom roles, and other specific metadata.

Data is secured through:

• Secure Hashing: Wix uses the wp_hash_password function to hash passwords before storing them in the database. This means passwords are never stored in plain text, making it much harder for an attacker to retrieve them in case of a database breach.

• Robust Hashing Algorithms: Wix uses strong and salted hashing algorithms (e.g., bcrypt) to ensure password security.

• Roles and Capabilities System: Wix implements a roles and capabilities system that limits the actions users can perform on the site. For instance, subscribers have limited permissions compared to administrators, thus minimizing the risk of unauthorized changes.

• Automatic Updates: Wix allows automatic updates for minor versions, ensuring that sites quickly receive security patches.

• HTTPS/SSL: The use of an SSL certificate ensures that data transmitted between the user and the server is encrypted.

• File Permissions: File and directory permissions (e.g., 644 for files and 755 for directories) prevent unauthorized access.

• Data Validation and Escaping: Theme and plugin developers must always validate and escape data to prevent XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) attacks and SQL injections.

• Wix Nonces: The use of nonces to verify requests and prevent CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery) attacks.

Our company will retain your cookie data and the data from section 3 of our Terms of Use for 365 days. Once this time has expired, we will automatically delete your data.

5. Transfer of your personal data

Your information, including personal data, is processed at the company's operating offices and any other locations where the parties involved in the processing are located. This means that this information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Your consent to this privacy notice followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

The Company will take all reasonably necessary steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy notice, and no transfer of your personal data will take place to an organization or country unless there are adequate controls in place, including the security of your data and other personal information.
